Comet Collision (2007)

In July 2005, NASA’s Deep Impact probe collided with comet Tempel 1, providing the first-ever glimpse of the interior of one of these ‘dirty snowballs’ and valuable insight into the formation of our solar system.NASA’s brilliant, but risky, plan to send a tiny, copper-plated probe hurtling directly towards the city-sized comet at a speed of 23,000 mph was a smashing success. The resulting explosion of particles provided experts with new data about the composition of life-building materials that were present in the early solar system. Watch as state-of-the-art spacecraft animation and stunning location photography bring the mission to life, taking viewers behind the scenes of NASA’s high-profile mission. Follow the entire journey of the doomed Deep Impact probe, from its initial design to the extraordinary challenge of building a spacecraft that’s intended to be smashed to pieces.

Notable aliases Michael “Mike” Murdock
Abilities Superhuman senses, echolocation, skilled Martial artist, peak human physical condition

The character originally appeared in Daredevil #1, which was published in April 1964. Daredevil was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Bill Everett, though character-design input derived from Jack Kirby. When Everett turned in his first-issue pencils extremely late, Marvel production manager Sol Brodsky and Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko inked a large variety of different backgrounds, a “lot of backgrounds and secondary figures on the fly and cobbled the cover and the splash page together from Kirby’s original concept drawing”.

Writer Mark Evanier believed that Jack Kirby had originally designed the basic image of Daredevil’s costume, though Everett modified it.The character’s original costume designed was a combination of black, yellow and red, reminiscent of acrobat tights. Acclaimed writer-artist Wally Wood penciled issues #5-8 of Daredevil, introducing the modern, recognizable red costume in issue #7 of Daredevil. Kirby had come up with the idea of Daredevil’s billy club.

Issue #12 began a brief run by Jack Kirby (layouts) and John Romita, Sr. The issue marked Romita’s return to superhero penciling after a decade of working exclusively as a romance-comic artist for DC. Romita had felt he no longer wanted to pencil, in favor of being solely an inker. He recalled in 1999,
“ I had inked an Avengers job for Stan, and I told him I just wanted to ink. I felt like I was burned out as a penciller after eight years of romance work. I didn’t want to pencil any more; in fact, I couldn’t work at home any more — I couldn’t discipline myself to do it. He said, ‘Okay,’ but the first chance he had he shows me this Daredevil story somebody had started and he didn’t like it, and he wanted somebody else to do it”.

Two years after the events of Final Fantasy VII, the survivors of Midgar have begun to build a new city, Edge, on the outskirts of the old metropolis. A strange disease known as “Geostigma” has arisen. After Cloud’s showdown with Sephiroth, he has been living with Tifa in Edge. Marlene and an orphaned boy named Denzel have been entrusted to their care. After receiving a message from Tifa, Cloud is attacked by three men, Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo, who believe that he has hidden their “mother”. The leader, Kadaj, ends the battle as he discovers that Cloud does not have their “mother”. Cloud responds to a message from Tifa, who tells him that the Turks have a job for him. At the meeting place, Cloud discovers that Rufus Shinra is still alive. Rufus attempts to enlist Cloud’s help to stop the trio, but fails as he refuses and leaves. Kadaj arrives and demands that Rufus tell him where to find his “mother”. It is revealed that his “mother” is Jenova’s remains, and is somehow connected to the cause of the Geostigma. The trio are planning a new “reunion” that will culminate in an assault on the Planet.

Loz arrives at Aerith’s church in an attempt to find Jenova’s remains, and is confronted by Tifa. After battling Tifa, he receives instructions on his cell phone to capture Marlene. Kadaj and the gang begin collecting children infected with Geostigma, including Denzel and the uninfected Marlene, and take them to the Forgotten City. Cloud attempts to rescue them but fails, and is quickly defeated, and is then rescued by Vincent Valentine, who reveals to Cloud what the trio is seeking and that it could result in the return of Sephiroth. Cloud agrees to return to Edge and face Kadaj in battle. In Edge, the trio call forth several monsters to attack the populace, including the summon “Bahamut SIN”. While Cloud’s companions deal with Bahamut SIN, Reno and Rude try to take care of Yazoo and Loz until Cloud arrives. Cloud and his friends are able to dispatch the monsters and Bahamut SIN.

In a nearby building, Rufus reveals to Kadaj that he has been in possession of Jenova’s remains all along. He throws the box containing it from the edge of the building. Kadaj dives after the remains and recovers it, but Rufus shoots the box and damages it. Kadaj spots Cloud in pursuit of him, and is followed to the ruins of Midgar. They battle each other in Aerith’s church. Kadaj destroys the flowerbed, which releases an outflow of Lifestream-infused water that cures Cloud’s Geostigma. Kadaj flees to the ruins of Shinra Headquarters, where they continue their fight. He distracts Cloud with the box containing Jenova’s remains, which he absorbs into his body and transforms into Sephiroth. He reveals that once those who die from the Geostigma return to the Lifestream, he will be able to control it and use the Planet as a vessel to travel space in search of a new planet for him to rule. Cloud defeats Sephiroth, who dissipates, leaving a weakened Kadaj at Cloud’s mercy. Aerith begins to pour healing rain across Edge, curing the people of their Geostigma. She tells Kadaj to be at rest, who believes her voice to be that of his “mother”, and he is taken by the Lifestream. Cloud is then shot by Yazoo in the back, who is also succumbing to the healing rain. He and Loz prepare one final blast at Cloud, resulting in a large explosion that disintegrates them and engulfs Cloud.

The film opens with a montage showing a group of bald children receiving tattoos of bar codes and receiving training in firearms & hand-to-hand combat. These scenes were actually not filmed for this movie but were taken from numerous episodes of the Fox show Dark Angel, starring Jessica Alba.

Interpol agent Mike Whittier discovers Agent 47 in his study, where the two talk briefly. The scene flashes back 3 months, as 47 is completing a hit in Niger. He receives a communication from his Agency contact, Diana, and is told he is to kill his next target, Russian President Mikhail Belicoff, publicly.

Agent 47 kills Belicoff using a sniper rifle to achieve a head shot from over 4 km away. However, when 47 is in the train station ready to leave, he’s told there’s a witness–Nika Boronina–whom he must kill. Confronting Nika on a street, he realizes she’s never seen him before and decides not to kill her. Additionally, Belicoff’s death was covered up, being portrayed in the media as a grazing wound. Agent 47 then escapes a failed assassination attempt.

Agent 47 confronts Diana about who would want Nika dead when she wasn’t a witness and why Belicoff is still being portrayed as alive. Outside, Mike Whittier and his partner have been tipped off that 47 is in the hotel. They encounter the FSB, led by Yuri Marklov, who sends in an emergency response team to capture 47. Diana calls 47 directly, informing him that it was Belicoff himself who ordered the hit. The troops attack and a hotel battle ensues. Agent 47 successfully escapes. However, the Agency he works for has dispatched assassins to kill him for failing his mission.

Microsoft Office 12 (2007)

May 4, 2009 by Alexio Doblese

The Microsoft Office Core Applications

Developed by Microsoft
Latest release 12.0.6425.1000 (Service Pack 2) / 2009-04-28; 6 days ago
Operating system Windows XP SP2 and later
Platform Microsoft Windows
Type Office suite
License Proprietary EULA (Commercial)
Website Microsoft Office Online Home Page

Microsoft Office 2007 (officially called 2007 Microsoft Office system) is the most recent Windows version of the Microsoft Office system, Microsoft’s productivity suite. Formerly known as Office 12 in the initial stages of its beta cycle, it was released to volume license customers on November 30, 2006 and made available to retail customers on January 30, 2007. These are, respectively, the same dates Windows Vista was released to volume licensing and retail customers. Office 2007 contains a number of new features, the most notable of which is the entirely new graphical user interface called the Fluent User Interface (initially referred to as the Ribbon UI), replacing the menus and toolbars – which have been the cornerstone of Office since its inception – with a tabbed toolbar, known as the Ribbon. Office 2007 requires Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or higher, Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 or higher, or Windows Vista.

The ‘Ribbon User Interface‘ is a task-orientated Graphical User Interface (GUI). It features a central menu button, widely known as the ‘Office Button’. The Ribbon Interface has been introduced into Microsoft Office 2010.

Office 2007 also includes new applications and server-side tools. Chief among these is Groove, a collaboration and communication suite for smaller businesses, which was originally developed by Groove Networks before being acquired by Microsoft in 2005. Also included is Office SharePoint Server 2007, a major revision to the server platform for Office applications, which supports “Excel Services“, a client-server architecture for supporting Excel workbooks that are shared in real time between multiple machines, and are also viewable and editable through a web page.

Microsoft FrontPage has been removed from the Office suite entirely. It has been replaced by Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer, which is aimed towards development of SharePoint portals. Its designer-oriented counterpart Microsoft Expression Web is targeted for general web development. However, neither application is included in any of the Office suites.

Speech recognition and handwriting recognition are now part of Windows Vista. Speech and ink components have been removed from Office 2007. Handwriting and speech recognition work with Office 2007 only on Windows Vista or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. However, XP users can use an earlier version of Office to use speech recognition.

Despite the nuclear destruction of Raccoon City, the T-Virus has escaped containment. Unable to be contained by the Umbrella Corporation, the virus quickly spreads across the world, drying up the lakes, rivers, and continents while infecting the human population and spreading to other species. Five years later, The Umbrella Corporation appears to be the only human authority left, its remnants forced to live underground in Hive-like constructs around the world.

Alice (Milla Jovovich), is now alone in the desert wastelands of the remains of the United States. She has superhuman strength and psionic abilities gained from Umbrella. Umbrella considers re-capturing Alice a top priority because of her ability to bond with the T-Virus. Dr. Sam Isaacs (Iain Glen) believes that he can use her blood to develop a permanent cure, as well as tame the infected. Umbrella chairman Albert Wesker (Jason O’Mara) orders Isaacs to create a cure using clones created from Alice’s blood. Wesker refuses to authorize manpower to recover Alice until they are 100% sure where she is. The Alice clones endure countless tests within the re-created Spencer Mansion, The Hive’s laser corridor, and Raccoon City Hospital locations; unfortunately, all the clones tested prove sub-standard to the original.

Meanwhile, Claire Redfield’s (Ali Larter) convoy, which includes Alice’s fellow Raccoon survivors Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors K-Mart (Spencer Locke), Mikey (Chris Egan), Chase (Linden Ashby) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti), are attempting to survive. While searching a small motel for supplies, L.J. is bitten. The next morning infected crows attack the convoy. The battle is going badly until Alice appears using her telekinetic powers to incinerate the flock by covering the sky in flames by manipulating the fire from a nearby flame-thrower which had gone out of control and was about to hit Carlos and a fellow survivor.

Peter Parker has begun to feel secure in his life and plans to propose to Mary Jane. One night in a park, while Peter and Mary Jane are on a date, a small meteorite crashes nearby, and an extraterrestrial symbiote oozes out, attaching itself to Peter’s moped. Meanwhile, escaped convict Flint Marko falls into a particle accelerator, which fuses his body with the surrounding sand. The result allows him to shape shift at will, becoming the Sandman. Peter’s best friend, Harry Osborn, who seeks vengeance for his father’s death, which he believes Peter caused, attacks him. After Harry gets hit by a pipe on the head, he gets partial amnesia, making him forget his vendetta.

Later, during a festival honoring Spider-Man for saving Gwen Stacy’s life, Sandman attempts to rob an armored car, and overpowers Spider-Man. Captain Stacy later informs Peter and Aunt May that Marko is the one who killed Ben Parker, and a vengeful Peter waits for Marko to strike again. The symbiote bonds with his costume while he is asleep; Peter discovers that not only has his costume changed, but his powers have been enhanced as well. The black suit also brings out the more vengeful, selfish, and arrogant side of Peter’s personality, exemplified by a near lethal attack on Sandman during a battle underground.

The shift in Peter’s personality alienates Mary Jane, whose stage career is floundering, and she finds solace with Harry. Harry recovers from his amnesia and, urged on by an apparition of his dead father, forces Mary Jane to break up with Peter. After Mary Jane leaves Peter, stating she is in love with another man, Harry meets him at a restaurant and claims to be the other man. Later, Peter finds him at the Osborn mansion. With the help of the black suit, Peter is victorious in a brutal fight, which leaves Harry’s face disfigured. Influenced by the suit, Peter exposes and humiliates Eddie Brock, a rival freelance photographer, who has sold fake pictures to The Daily Bugle supposedly showing Spider-Man to be a criminal.
