Game Description
The game is based on actual events that took place during the Soviet military campaign in Afghanistan. 9th Company follows the story of a ragged band of young recruits undergoing brutal training in Uzbekistan¢s Fergana Valley and culminates with a bloody stand against the Mujahideen warriors on a nameless mountain top in Afghanistan. It¢s the Battle of Thermopylae all over again: one Russian fighter against 10 Afghanis!
9th Company recreates in detail the events that took place during the last large-scale Soviet military operation. Few know the history: the 9th Company of the 345th Guards Airborne Regiment came under heavy fire on “Hill 3234” on January 7th, 1988. They managed to stop several attacks by an estimated 400 Mujahideen and Pakistani mercenaries and held their position for two gory days. Adventureland (2009) (DVDSCR)
Arriving with what prove to be outsized expectations for raucous humor on the basis of “Superbad,” Greg Mottola’s “Adventureland” unspools as a rather ordinary account of youthful summer misadventures that goes down easily thanks to a sparkly cast, more than 40 pop tunes that anchor the action in the late ’80s and characters who get high both on and off their jobs at a tacky amusement park. Thanks especially to the presence of leading lady Kristen Stewart in a role she filmed prior to “Twlight,” the pic should spin good returns for Miramax on its March 27 release.
Based on the experiences he had working at a Long Island amusement, Mottola cooks up a passable amount of mischief to occupy the late- teen/early-20s misfits who work as ride and game operators at Pittsburgh’s Adventureland in the summer of ’87. Writer-director’s evident stand-in is James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg of “The Squid and the Whale”), who’s forced to take any summer job he can get when his European trip is dashed and his autumn date with grad school at Columbia is jeopardized by his alcoholic father’s fall from grace at work.
For a Reagan-era pothead, James is a terribly serious, woefully earnest guy who offers up his SAT scores when applying for low-end summer positions. He also somehow has emerged from college still a virgin, but his saving grace as far as his Adventureland cohorts are concerned is that he’s always has some weed. This makes the days go by easier, and also fuels the night, which the gawky James surprises himself by chastely spending with the alluring but massively screwed up Em (Kristen Stewart), who works at the park only as a way or getting away from her father and unbearable new stepmother.
What James doesn’t know is that Em is having a clandestine affair with older local musician and handyman Mike Connell (Ryan Reynolds), to whom James sometimes confesses his amorous feelings for Em. Adding further to the equation is a flirty cupcake Lisa P. (Margarita Levieva), a known virgin-for-life who nonetheless encourages James’ attentions.
The set-up provides plenty of opportunity for crude humor, Mottola indulges with abundant involving puking, groin pinches, drunk and stoned behavior, and lax work habits. But his real interest is the navigation of dubious emotional and ethical straits by immature characters who make serious mistakes while trying to feel their way out of their unhappiness.
The filmmakers’ investment in James’ sudden loss of a safety net, Em’s justifiable distress at home, and brainy stoner Joel’s (Martin Starr) fury over a one-time date’s anti-Semitism is genuine as far as it goes, but little that happens here is particularly surprising, especially the occurrence of some virginity divestment at the end.
Rather off-putting at first with his furrowed-brow attitude, Eisenberg’s James becomes increasingly palatable as the summer progresses. Stewart impresses again with her steady, clear-eyed gaze and sense of self. Nice comic turns are put in by Starr as the Gogol-reading outcast and Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig as the goofball but dedicated park owners.

The film begins with a group of men preparing weapons for a fire fight. Among them, an argument sparks regarding whether or not a certain person will be at their destination, a local grocery store. Upon arrival, they find a group of people.
The guys from the car take over the store and appear to be looking for someone, and it seems one of them is “scanning” people by staring into their eyes. The cop who evaded the raiders, shoots one and calls for back up. He continues to elude the raiders for a few more seconds and shoots Spooky, the guy who was scanning everyone. The cop is shot and the dead are moved back to the freezers where one of the raiders shoot up the dead bodies.
The cleared hostages are sent out when the police arrive and the uncleared are all cordoned of in the back and forced to drink milk. The raiders then reveal that they are a group of scientist that are tracking an unknown contagion to this town and to the supermarket. Since Spooky is dead, they must use an alternate method to find out who is infected.
They take the first of the uncleared people, the boss of the store, and begin to ask questions. This is all to distract him from cutting one of his fingers. He protests and tries to escape showing them he has stolen money from the store. Meanwhile the hostages begin to plan an escape. As one of the hostages goes into the freezer to get a gun to escape he is killed by some person. Later, in the movie it is revealed that the person who killed the hostage is the king of the Aliens. And the rest of the story is how they get rid off him. In the near end they realize that the person they killed is not the king and the girl is the real one.

Woody Allen as a worker ant with an inferiority complex? Sylvester Stallone as an affable soldier ant who discovers that digging tunnels is cool? The animation playground we all knew so well is turning into a theme park full of in-jokes for grownups. Antz explores age-old topics (one person–err, insect–can make a difference, individuality and social responsibility must exist side by side, war is hell) with comic asides and Woody Allen’s funniest quips this side of PG (adults will chuckle at the socialist slogans bandied about as he campaigns for workers’ rights). Sharon Stone voices the rebellious princess with a fun-loving streak that doesn’t quite overcome her royal bearing and court training, but she can learn. Gene Hackman is all teeth (ants have teeth?) and menacing grins as the Army general plotting insect-icide. This bug’s-eye view of life on Earth gives Allen’s neurotic nonconformist an epic adventure of microscopic proportions: a devastating war with a termite colony, an odyssey to the fabled land of plenty (a picnic ground), and a race to save his fellow workers from certain death. Other voices include Anne Bancroft as the Queen, Christopher Walken, Jennifer Lopez, Danny Glover, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, and John Mahoney. The computer animation isn’t exactly realistic but feels as solid and contoured as puppet animation with the smoothness and slickness of traditional cel cartoons, and the character designs and animation offer a marvelous range of expressions. The PG rating includes a gritty battle sequence that may frighten youngsters.

DCI Gene Hunt is back, but he’s no longer the self-styled “Sheriff of Manchester.” Flanked by his faithful sidekicks, Ray Carling and Chris Skelton, and drawn by the action and intrigue of the London Met, Gene’s turned his attentions to taking on the “southern nancy” criminal scum. However, Gene did not expect to be thrown together with a sexy, intelligent DCI Alex Drake. Single mother to daughter Molly, Alex has rapidly risen through the ranks of the Met and, in the modern world of 2008, skilfully uses psychological profiling to capture suspects. When Alex and her daughter are kidnapped, she makes a daring attempt at escape, resulting in a horrific accident. Alex suddenly finds herself in 1981, interacting with familiar characters, not just from her own lifetime, but also from the detailed reports logged by none other than Sam Tyler, which Alex previously spent months poring over. Alex is ripped from her current world of sexual equality and respect in 2008, and finds herself opposite an arrogant fellow DCI, in a two-tone, “New Romantic” ’80s London with a soundtrack of Adam Ant, Roxy Music, and the Human League ringing in her ears. Alex finds that some of Gene’s team has dispersed, yet others, loyal as ever, are still in tow. Now a technological whiz kid in the squad’s surveillance team, DC Chris Skelton has clearly moved with the times, along with a tight-permed DS Ray Carling, who’s keen to experience London’s nightlife. Frustrated by each other’s stubbornness, the friction between Alex and Gene heats up. However, as the two titans collide, it becomes apparent that there is more than just a professional tension emerging. [Written by Ian Wylie]

Emma (Anne Hathaway) and Liv (Kate Hudson) are best friends who have planned every detail of their weddings since they first witnessed a wedding at the Plaza Hotel. Therefore, they both have made it lifetime priority to be married in the same location.
The movie begins with the two women getting engaged at the shared age of 26. They then schedule their weddings with New York’s most famous wedding planner, but due to a clerical error they’re scheduled to have a wedding on the same day. A week of passive aggressive hostility passes before the two women make it clear that neither will compromise, especially after Liv tries to take advantage of Emma’s passive nature and outraging Emma in the process. During this time Emma’s fiance, Fletcher, begins to show signs of being controlling.
The women both attempt to sabotage the other’s wedding, including Liv making Emma’s tan turn bright orange, Emma tampering with Liv’s hair dye to make it turn Liv’s hair blue-white, and Emma showing up to Liv’s bachelorette party to outdance her. After the latter event Emma’s fiance shows that he is definitely overbearing and very likely sexist to boot by yelling at Emma and telling her not to be tense or angry anymore.
Both brides-to-be are then shown to be in the plaza very shortly before they’re due to be wedded, separately. Right before Liv leaves to begin her march to the altar she tells her assistant to play the footage from a CD on a projection screen in Emma’s part of the plaza. The CD contains a montage of memorable events in Emma’s life, whereas the CD Liv had already set up (sabotage) to play contained a clip of Emma drunk and dancing wildly on a previous spring break. Liv’s assistant drops the CD behind a flower vase while muttering, “you’ll thank me one day,” to himself.
Emma begins her walk down the aisle with the best man but stops when the footage of her spring break is shown. She loses her temper completely and tackles Liv after sprinting to the other section of the plaza. The two brides wrestle in their dresses on the floor while the rest of the room looks on, the people closest to the brides having decided it would be best to let the brides resolve the problem. After tussling Emma and Liv lay on the ground panting, and then make up almost instantly. Emma stands up and has a conversation with Fletcher, during which they both realize that they’re not right for each other anymore. Liv’s wedding resumes with Emma happily participating, dancing with Nate, Liv’s brother.
The movie picks up a year later when Emma and Liv meet up for “drinks”, during which it’s revealed that Emma married Nate. Emma and Liv also reveal to each other that they’re pregnant and that their due dates are the same, March 3rd.
